Set the task type StakePoint uses to calculate task duration
By default, StakePoint uses the task type defined within your preferences to calculate the duration of tasks.
For any task, you can change how StakePoint calculates by setting the task type.Within the Gantt Chart double click on the task you want to modify.
In the Task type box, click the task type you want to set.
You can also modify the task type directly within the Gannt.
Each of the task types affects scheduling when you edit one of the three elements as follows.
|In A ...||IF YOU REVISE UNITS...||IF YOU REVISE DURATION...||IF YOU REVISE WORK...|
|Fixed-units task||Duration is recalculated.||Work is recalculated.||Duration is recalculated.|
|Fixed-work task||Duration is recalculated.||Units are recalculated.||Duration is recalculated.|
|Fixed-duration task||Work is recalculated.||Work is recalculated.||Units are recalculated.|
The abstract notion of effort driven is not integrated in StakePoint in order to make the relation between task assignments, duration and units straightforward and easier to understand.
This means that the workload calculation in StakePoint is an unambiguous relation between units, duration and task type.
Assignment units and or work can be entered within the Gantt:
Or within the Task Dialog:
